What is Visionary Fiction?

Visionary Fiction emerged as a distinct literary genre around the turn of the millennium as a story form that seeks to illustrate the potential for expanding human consciousness. The VF vision is the limitless human potential. Visionary Fiction envisions humanity’s collective transition to evolved consciousness.

The term Visionary describes the scope of a story as well as the genre. The Visionary Fiction author weaves a tapestry of timeless spiritual wisdom into a framework of plot, character, and setting rather than delivering a sermon, to immerse the reader in the drama of increasing awareness.

Characteristics of Visionary Fiction:

  • Goading consciousness into unfamiliar territory is the mode for gently, or sometimes urgently, guiding the central characters toward the shining beacon of enlightenment.
  • The author may employ dreams, reincarnation, paranormal events, psychic abilities, and other metaphysical plot devices to drive the story and convey the lesson.
  • The spiritual wisdom entwined with the story is universal.

“Visionary Fiction speaks the language of the soul.  It offers a vision of humanity as we dream it could be.”   ~ Jodine Turner
